Artist: Tamara McDougall.
2ft X 4ft plywood. Mixed medium. Mostly pastel, color pencil, and photos collaged.
Final project #4 check!
My final project was wide open with a couple of guidelines once again. It was to be a minimum 18x24, it had to involve collage and had to mix atleast 3 mediums.
In this I am the big sprite and I am at my favorite place in Calgary. It is this bend in the river Ian and I coined as the "turn around spot". It is a half hour walk from our house and I miss that bike path so much. My elfish hair lends itself to this and I don't know why but as soon as I thought of the shape and size I wanted to use I immediately saw wings coming off the picture. Then when I found the wood I wanted I saw little angels in the grain of the wood. I had wanted to use a Canada theme before and nothing fit till this. I am at the family tree and that is where my roots will always be.
I teared up when it came to life and is the most personal piece I've done. The only reason I am in it is to make it as personal as it is and that was the hard part, so please don't see vanity. If you must blame my hairdresser cause that is where the wood sprite thing came from.
